eResearch Activities at the University

There is currently a range of eResearch activities at the University listed on the Online Research Collections Australia (ORCA) Support Network Wiki. This Wiki is an informal register of knowledge and discussion about the activities and entities associated with the ORCA Support Network. The ORCA Support Network includes the University of Melbourne and other Australian Universities.

In July 2007, the University appointed a Director for eResearch responsible for developing a strategy for eResearch at the University of Melbourne. (For further information about the University's eResearch strategy or related matters, please contact the eScholarship Research Centre.)

To foster the eResearch community at the University of Melbourne, VeRSI (Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative) , the Director of eResearch, and the eScholarship Research Centre are cooperating to provide a weekly opportunity to network and discuss topics around eResearch with colleagues and interested people here at the University. The attendees to each of the network sessions varies depending on the proposed topic of discussion. Melbourne University eResearch Coffee mornings are held on Tuesdays at 11am in the VeRSI Melbourne office, ground floor of the Brownless Biomedical Library. The eResearch Coffee Blog is also available to read about and comment on eResearch topics discussed at these meetings.

The inaugural University of Melbourne eResearch Update, held on 30 November 2007, gave a snapshot of current eResearch activities from local, national and international perspectives.
